Having seen some horrible examples of “feedback” that got pretty close to child abuse, I love this message from former Test Cricketer Doug Walters taken from John Buchanan’s excellent book:
A message for those who have significant influence over the hopes and dreams of young people:
“Just pick out one or two good things that a kid does on the field and say “Well done, that was brilliant rather than saying anything about how he got out or why (s)he missed the ball” (Doug Walters in Buchanan, J.
